"Protecting Data on Mobile Devices"

Mobility is one of the key macro trends driving IT and IT security in 2012. Enterprises are faced with the challenge of protecting sensitive electronic information stored on mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones. Solutions to comply with regulatory and security requirements for protecting such data may conflict with user experience, and a careful balance is required.

The key issues addressed in the presentation are:
• Facing the threat of data on mobile devices
• Defining a strategy for protecting data at endpoints
• Finding a balance between security and user experience

 Mario de Boer, Ph.D., is a Research Director in the Security and Risk Management Strategies team at Gartner. His coverage   areas include endpoint security, cryptography, mobile device security and email encryption. He has more than 15 years of industry experience in security, risk and compliance topic areas, working for enterprises, government organizations and consulting firms. Mario is CISA and CISSP.
